Behind the Lens (and feed): Meet Rachael
Hi, I’m Rachael—Wander Africa’s Creative Director and in-house photographer.
I’ve spent over 25 years working in the hospitality industry, from luxury hotels to experiential events, but it’s through storytelling and visual design that I’ve truly found my stride. At Wander Africa, I get to do what I love most: help bring a brand to life in a way that feels intentional, human, and beautiful.
Travel has always been a big part of my life. A few years ago, I went on safari in Kenya with my family—and that experience not only changed the way I see the world, but also led to my connection with Jay and Brandi. That trip sparked a friendship and creative collaboration that feels full-circle now that I get to work alongside them, helping to shape the Wander Africa brand.
Earlier this year, I returned to Kenya—this time with camera in hand—capturing Jay, Brandi, and their son Dillon on safari in the Masai Mara. From the golden light to Dilly’s wide-eyed wonder, it was a reminder of just how special these journeys really are.
I believe the magic is always in the details—how something makes you feel, not just how it looks. Whether I’m curating our social media or photographing a moment in the wild, I try to bring that same care and soul to everything I do.
When I’m not editing images or dreaming up our next story, you’ll likely find me in the mountains of North Carolina, coffee in hand, planning my next adventure.
