A Kindred Spirit in the
Wild: Meet Kelly
Born and raised in South Africa, I may have grown up in the city, but the bush has always felt like home. From early family holidays in the wild to time spent with my husband at our shared family spot in the Sabi Sand—where wildlife moves freely between the reserve and the Kruger—some of my most moving encounters with animals have happened right there, under big skies and quiet trees.
After university, I followed my curiosity out into the world—spending a ski season in Aspen, exploring Central America and the West Coast—before returning home to take on one of the most formative roles of my life: Camp Manager at Londolozi Private Game Reserve. Living and working in the bush, meeting people from around the globe, and witnessing nature unfold in real time changed me forever.
Joining Wander Africa felt like a natural extension of the things I care most about—wild places, meaningful connection, conservation, and crafting journeys that matter. Working with Jay and Brandi feels less like work and more like collaborating with kindred spirits.
These days, I’m based on the coast in KwaZulu-Natal, where my happy place includes a bit of exercise, a dip in the sea, and soaking up time with friends and family.
