From Gorilla Trails to Lion Tracks
A Family’s Adventure Through Kenya & Uganda
We recently had the joy of welcoming a family back from their unforgettable trip through Uganda and Kenya - a journey filled with wildlife, warm hospitality, and meaningful time together. With two teenagers in tow, this was a true family adventure - one that balanced big moments with quiet connection, and offered something for everyone.
Their journey began in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, where they stayed at Buhoma Lodge and set out on a thrilling gorilla trek - an experience that’s hard to put into words. The pictures say it all, but they come pretty darn close with these spectacular gorillas. This portion of the trip was powerful, grounding, and deeply memorable.
From there, they made their way to Kenya, beginning with time at Borana Lodge on the Laikipia plateau. With Mount Kenya on the horizon and animals on the plains, it was a magical place to pause and connect with nature.
Next stop: the Naboisho Conservancy, adjacent to the Maasai Mara. Here, the family stayed at Naboisho Camp, where they were able to spend a night fly camping under the stars. With excellent wildlife sightings, cultural experiences, and quiet moments around the fire, it was the perfect way to wrap up their time on safari.
They closed out the trip in Nairobi, with time to relax, explore the city, and reflect on the journey.
Trips like this remind us of why we do what we do. It’s not just about ticking off sightings, it’s about crafting time together, away from the noise, in wild and beautiful places that leave a lasting mark.
We loved planning this one for this wonderful family, and we can’t wait to welcome them back to Africa again.
Let us know if you’d like a trip like this of your own, we’d be honored to help.
