Re-wild with Keri in Kenya
This Retreat has been postponed to 2020. Dates are TBD, please sign up to receive updates on new dates.
Hosted by Keri Bergeron
Africa is the land of mystic, magic and a raw spiritual power. Everyone who steps foot on this continent simply falls in love. We are going to connect this love through meditation and yoga as we explore the ancient lands of Kenya.
Every day will hold a different surprise, as we begin by exploring a 49,000 acre private conservancy on the foothills of the majestic Mt. Kenya. This land is home to ancient caves, rock art, and an abundance of wildlife all within a tremendously diverse landscape, and endless views. For four nights we will enjoy meditation and yoga practice in new and exciting spaces, beside a herd of elephants, or on a cliff at sunset overlooking hundreds of miles of untouched land - in the wild nothing is predictable and that’s the way we like it.
Our camp will be set up especially for us, and the location of it will be determined a few days before. Perhaps it will be in front of a waterhole frequented by herds of elephants, or if you’re lucky lion. Or it could be positioned on the cliff side…No matter where, it is bound to be a magical experience. The camp will come fully staffed, with butler service, gourmet meals, drinks, smoothies, juices, activities, en-suite tents with hot showers and of course armed ranger guides - all of which are included. The days will be spent practicing yoga, meditating, being driven around searching for the wildlife, or better yet on foot tracking the lions or leopards. If this isn’t exciting enough, how about immersing yourself with the indigenous and nomadic Masai tribe in their village, helping with chores, learning and being inspired? A truly authentic experience.
From here after our true “Out of Africa” experience, we fly on a private aircraft to the world famous Masai Mara area, where we have an entire estate to ourselves in the wilderness. For five nights we have all this land to enjoy, with day and night game drives, guided walks, swimming, community visits, local school visits, horseback riding, and of course yoga and meditation. Here, we can practice on the river bank frequented by hippo and crocodile, or on the grounds of the House in the Wild. Wherever we choose to have our practice each day, it will be just as powerful as the last.
To offer a different experience House in the Wild is a lodge, and the structures on the property are more permanent. Each and every room here is different, offering privacy and freedom to walk around (it is fenced). All meals, drinks, and activities are included here.
Finally, with our hearts fulfilled, mind cleansed and souls energized, rested, and connected, we leave the wilderness and board our flight back to Nairobi. Here, on our final few hours in Kenya, we visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust to see these beautiful rescued orphaned elephants as they are rehabilitated, followed by a visit to the Giraffe Sanctuary to hand feed some rare Rothschild Giraffe. Dinner will be shortly after, in one of Kenya’s most famous Indian restaurants, before we are dropped off to the airport.
There is never a goodbye when it comes to Africa, there is always a “see you soon!”
